Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
Hermes Translate is built for private, real-time conversations. Your conversations are processed offline on your device whenever possible, and we do not operate servers that collect, store, or sell your personal information.
What We Do Not Collect
Hermes Translate does not collect, store, sell, or share personal data. In plain language:
- Your spoken words and translations stay on your device whenever possible.
- No audio recordings are sent to Hermes Translate.
- No account, sign-in, or profile is required.
- No analytics, tracking, advertising, or data-broker tools are included.
Offline and Nearby Conversations
Hermes Translate is designed to work offline after the languages you need are available on your device. When you connect with someone nearby, conversation text is shared directly between the devices so the other person can see and hear the translation.
Hermes Translate does not route those conversations through our servers.
Conversation History
Conversation history is saved only on your device. Hermes Translate does not copy it to our servers or use it to build a profile about you.
You can delete local conversation history from within the app or by removing the app from your device.
Permissions
Hermes Translate only asks for permissions needed to provide translation features:
- Microphone access — used so the app can hear what you want translated.
- Speech recognition — used to turn spoken words into text on your device whenever possible.
- Nearby device access — used only when you choose to connect with another device for a shared conversation.
Device Settings and App Stores
Your device and app store provider may offer their own privacy controls, permission prompts, backup settings, and purchase records. Those settings are controlled by your device or app store account, not by Hermes Translate.
